About the National Brain Tumor Society:

National Brain Tumor Society is fiercely committed to finding better treatments, and ultimately a cure, for people living with a brain tumor today and anyone who will be diagnosed tomorrow. This means effecting change in the system at all levels.

In September of 2012, I learned I had a golfball-sized hemangioblastoma in my cerebellum.
As a father of 1 and 3 year old boys, this was a diagnosis that obviously caused me great concern. I underwent a 9 hour surgery and came out on the other side a little beat up, but still here to appreciate my family and loved ones. As anyone who has been fortunate enough to live through an experience of this nature, it becomes a life-changer. I recognize each day is a gift and now find myself in a position to try and help others who are living through similar experiences.

My journey continued after surgery with numerous follow-ups with several specialists; none of whom could begin to explain WHY? I found this incredibly frustrating, and decided to figure out how to try and help do my part to aid in funding research to understand how and why brain tumors happen.
Additionally, I opened my own business - North Shore Brewing Supply - one year to the date after my surgery because I now fully grasp how short life is and recognize the need to take advantage of the time we are given and chase dreams with a passionate frenzy.

I am excited to be able to be a part of a fundraiser for brain tumor research with Title Boxing Club - Northbrook, and know the funds we raise will help the future of research and allow us to have better answers for future generations. Join us on Friday, May 16th from 5:30-7:30 pm for what will surely be a great time. Start the night by getting a workout in and swinging away on one of Title's 60 heavy bags as an instructor guides you through an energetic and fun-filled class. Then rehydrate with some of the freshest and finest quality brews you will never be able to buy! North Shore Brewing Supply will be supplying samples of homebrew for you to enjoy after the class. You will also enjoy food from Sarpino's restaurant and the live musical stylings of Danny Shaffer and Matt Fedderman. This wonderful experience can be yours with a minimum donation of $25. Sign up via this link to guarantee your spot http://www.eventbrite.com/e/boxing-and-beer-for-brains-tickets-11253825495. Space permitting we will accept participants at the door. Can't make the event but still want to donate? Make a donation right here on this page. Help us reach our $1800 goal! Any amount helps us reach our goal! Let's knock out brain tumors!!
