Hello!

My name is Eric Guldberg, I'm a junior at Hope College in Holland, MI, but Ann Arbor, MI is home. My entire life, my father, Jim Guldberg has been my hero, my role model, my superman. In January of 2014, I got a call that my father had a Grand Mal seizure and was in a medically induced coma; I couldn't get to the hospital fast enough. Day after day I sat bedside to my father in the ICU as I watched a number of machines and tubes keep my father alive. Finally he was brought out of his coma and we got the news...he has a Grade 2 Ogliodendroglioma on his right frontal lobe. From the second my father heard the news, there was never an ounce of fear, only fire and determination to beat this. My dad went through several rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. His strength and positive attitude have been inspirational. Thankfully, his brain tumor has shrunk enough that he is in a maintenance phase. With regular check ups and medicine, he should live a full life. However, this journey as a family has been extremely difficult on everyone. It shows you how even your hero can stumble and fall, but it's the fight back that defines us. My father deals with the struggles of a brain tumor everyday.

My father inspires me to do great things. I have decided to hike all 2,190 miles of the Appalachian Trail NOBO starting on March 25th, 2017. The goal is to raise money for brain tumor research and raise awareness. Every step I take will be dedicated to honoring my father and all the other courageous people who have, are, and will battle brain tumors. Let's all fight together, to reach a world where nobody has to cry at 3am, alone, in the ICU, as they overlook their loved one and wonder if they will live. We can do this everyone, one step at a time.

Please join me in the fight against brain tumors by making a donation to my fundraising campaign to support the National Brain Tumor Society.
