About the National Brain Tumor Society:

Over the years, cancer has hit close to home for the Whitman cross-country team. Too many family members and close friends have battled cancer- some survivors, some who were lost, and more still battling. As we deal with these difficult times, running serves as a source of strength and balance for our team. Having our teammates behind us through thick and thin has taught us the value of solidarity, and we want to extend that solidarity to anyone else in the community who has been impacted by the hardships of cancer.

With these hopes of bringing those affected by cancer together, our team held the first Who Do You Run For? event in December of 2013. For 24-hours straight, our team and members of the community ran in a relay to honor those who have died, to celebrate those who have survived, and to support those who are still battling cancer. This event was hugely successful, as we collectively ran over 1,000 miles, honoring and remembering those affected by cancer along the way. We also raised $2,400 for the multiple myeloma foundation.

We are proud to say that we will be continuing this event on December 4-5 of this year. Please support us and those battling cancer by donating to the National Brain Tumor Society. This particular organization resonates with our team as one of our teammates lost her father to brain cancer.
