 May is Brain Tumor Awareness Month
Help NBTS kick off Brain Tumor Awareness Month (BTAM) with the Race for Hope - DC and the Bay Area Brain Tumor Walk, and visits to Capitol Hill as part of Brain Tumor Action Week, May 1-7. On May 2 in Washington, DC, we invite you to an education day, which will include training for advocacy visits to Congress on May 3 to educate advocates on brain tumor research and care. NBTS research funding highlights
Since 1992, NBTS and its legacy organizations have supported brain tumor research by directly funding grants and collaborating with other funding organizations. To measure the contribution of this research funding, NBTS performed a quantitative analysis of the more than 400 peer-reviewed scientific published articles that resulted from NBTS-supported brain tumor research studies. In addition, NBTS looked at other indicators reflecting the contribution that research is making on the development of new treatments for brain tumors. Together, these findings were put into a Summary of NBTS's Reseach Funding (PDF). |

In some parts of the country, the tulips that were planted last fall during the Tulips Against Tumors fundraiser are already in full bloom. If you bought tulips last year, share your tulips with others by posting photos on the Tulips Against Tumors Facebook page. If you want to be notified of when you can buy tulips this year, visit the Tulips Against Tumors website and fill out the notification form. |

NBTS created the Living Legacy Society to recognize donors who have chosen to provide support for NBTS and its programs through planned or deferred gifts, including bequests, charitable trusts, gift annuities, and other estate planning methods. Like NBTS, members of the Living Legacy Society are dedicated to funding transformative research; empowering individuals with information, support, and connections with others; and advocating for all those affected by brain tumors. Creative Community Event highlights
 Highland Yards
The owners of Highland Yard, a horse racing stable in the San Francisco Bay Area, have started donating 10% of their horses' winnings to NBTS. So far the horses have won almost $6,000 for NBTS!
Cut 'em for Cancer
Here's a fundraising idea you may not have thought of - cut your hair! Henry Schwartz, who lost his father to a brain tumor, is cutting off his dreadlocks for brain tumors. With a $100 donation, Henry will cut off one of his 52 dreadlocks. He has already raised $3,400 for NBTS.

You will of course be able to raise funds after this date; they just won't be counted towards your team total when determining the top fundraiser announced at the event.
