Partner Spotlight: Imerman Angels

Jonny Imerman
Jonny Imerman
Founder, Imerman Angels

Recently, the National Brain Tumor Society spoke with Jonny Imerman of Imerman Angels to get his perspectives on working with the brain tumor community.

What do you see as the value of your partnership with National Brain Tumor Society?

Imerman Angels has been able to reach so many brain cancer and brain tumor survivors who are now angels, and mentor others going through the same experience, one-on-one! National Brain Tumor Society has helped connect Imerman Angels with so many great people and we are now able to make more matches and help even more people affected by this disease. Similarly, we recommend the National Brain Tumor Society to anyone we see looking to get more information; partnering allows us to help people without creating duplicate services. National Brain Tumor Society is an amazing partner and we're all stronger together.

Why would you encourage someone to reach out and connect?

When we are facing life's biggest challenges, the most powerful words in the world are: "ME TOO." There is power and inspiration in empathy, and those who share experiences should know each other! I encourage anyone with this disease to reach out to Imerman Angels to meet other people or volunteer to be an angel to others. Again, we are all stronger together.

What is the most rewarding part of your work?

The most rewarding part of my work are the emails and phone calls thanking Imerman Angels because he/she loves their match! People are not shy to tell us when they've been matched with an amazing survivor who has gotten them through the hardest experience of their life! That is what it's all about...IMPACT. Survivors and caregivers positively impacting the lives of people who fight cancer today.

National Brain Tumor Society values its partners who help support our community of patients and survivors, and deeply appreciates their commitment to improving the lives of all those touched by brain tumors.

National Brain Tumor Society Walks, Races, and Rides Continue to Rally the Community for a Cure

From coast to coast, National Brain Tumor Society's Walks, Races, and Rides continue to host the brain tumor community and raise much-needed awareness. This spring, we gathered thousands of individuals and teams in Delaware, Phoenix, Denver, Washington DC, Boston, San Francisco, and New York City to raise critical funds for research, and strengthen the bond of our community. Our events unite patients and survivors, as well as their families and friends, to provide encouragement and hope.

In addition to the generosity of our event participants, our amazing sponsors such as Students Supporting Brain Tumor Research, Snell & Wilmer LLP, Barclays, Penn Brain Tumor Center, Vionic, Genentech, Highland Yard, Mini of San Francisco, Cassidy Turley, 5280, Berenbaum Weinshienk PC, Rocky Mountain Gamma Knife Center, 9News (Denver), The Long Island Brain Tumor Center, Weill Cornell Medical College, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, NYU Langone Medical Center, and many, many more allow us to continue our work for a cure.
