2020: A New Decade for New Breakthroughs

This year, another 80,000 Americans and their loved ones became unwilling members of the brain tumor community. They, like many others diagnosed with a brain tumor, were thrown into a world of life-changing uncertainty.

Yet, research funded by the National Brain Tumor Society over the last 10 years has brought new treatments within reach and an explosion of knowledge related to the science of brain tumors. As the most productive decade of brain tumor research ever comes to a close, the brain tumor community enters a pivotal moment. With your help, together, we can fuel a new decade for new breakthroughs.

Make a gift today to help translate a decade of cutting-edge research and knowledge into transformative treatments that patients and their families deserve.

Join the Next Brain Tumor Support Conversations – December 15

Brain Tumor Support Conversations is a monthly online support group to further unite the brain tumor community. Facilitated by volunteers Adam Hayden and Lisa O'Leary, these discussions provide a welcoming space where patients and loved ones can talk about the feelings and emotions that accompany any aspect of the brain tumor experience.

Less than a week until #GivingTuesday: How to double your support for the Brain Tumor Community

Next Tuesday (12/3) is #GivingTuesday – the annual day when people all over the world open their hearts in the spirit of giving to support a cause that is most near and dear to them.

This year, Facebook is matching up to $7 million raised on its platform throughout the day. If you're on Facebook, setting up a fundraiser has never been easier or, potentially, more impactful. Facebook fundraising allows you to invite your friends and family to give a gift that will fund the National Brain Tumor Society without even having to leave Facebook. Here are instructions on how to make your own personalized fundraiser.

If you're not on Facebook, don't worry! You can still make a gift on #GivingTuesday. Together, we'll accelerate the rate at which we discover, develop, test, and approve new treatments, while working together to advance a cure.

Defeat GBM-Funded Research Featured in the New York Times

In 2017, NBTS reported on a discovery by Defeat GBM-funded researcher, Dr. Paul Mischel – small circles of free-floating DNA which could play a key role in the ability of tumors to evolve quickly and resist treatments. Last week, Dr. Mischel published a new paper revealing more about these circles of DNA, possibly paving the way to new treatment approaches for glioblastoma patients.
