	March 2009 Research Avastin Approval for Expanded Use Under Review   On March 31, 2009, the Food and Drug Administration's Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee will discuss Genentech's supplemental Biologics License Application for Avastin® for people with previously treated glioblastoma. Genentech applied under the FDA's accelerated approval program that allows provisional approval of medicines for cancer or other life-threatening diseases based on preliminary evidence likely to predict clinical benefit. The FDA is expected to make a decision by May 5, 2009.
