Avastin Approval for Expanded Use Under Review On March 31, 2009, the Food and Drug Administration's Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee will discuss Genentech's supplemental Biologics License Application for Avastin® for people with previously treated glioblastoma. Genentech applied under the FDA's accelerated approval program that allows provisional approval of medicines for cancer or other life-threatening diseases based on preliminary evidence likely to predict clinical benefit. The FDA is expected to make a decision by May 5, 2009.
