'Tis the Season
This time of year can mean different things to different people. It may mean spending more time with family, enjoying traditions with friends, or remembering a loved one who is no longer with us. The Patient Services team is taking a closer look at coping during the holidays and provides some tips to help us with this season in the NBTS "Headquarters" Blog.

 Thanks to those who attended the ependymoma tumors "Ask the Expert" session
On November 30, NBTS hosted an "Ask the Expert" Session on ependymoma tumors, with guest speaker Dr. Mark Gilbert, Principal Investigator at the CERN Foundation, and neuro-oncologist at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Because we received so many great questions about ependymomas that we did not have the time to respond to, Dr. Gilbert has answered some additional questions in our ependymoma forum.

 Family Caregiver Workshop in Jacksonville, Fla. (Telecasted to Rochester, Minn.)
Are you caring for a loved one with a brain tumor? Would you like to learn more about symptom management, cognitive changes, and finding community resources? NBTS, The Sontag Foundation, and Mayo Clinic are hosting a free Family Caregiver Workshop on Saturday, January 8, 2011 in Jacksonville, Fla. This workshop will also be telecast to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

 Update from Community Events
Some may hibernate in winter, but there are two events coming up where you can continue to unite to fight brain tumors in the cold winter months.
The Kelly Heinz-Grundner Brain Tumor Foundation (KHG) Third Annual Beef and Beer Winter Fundraiser (Delaware) - Join KHG, a subsidiary of NBTS, for an evening of great food, live music, dancing, auctions, and lots of fun. Tickets are limited and last year's event sold out, so get your tickets early.
Eighth Annual Michael F. Lewandowski Ski Day (Colorado) - Share in Michael's passion for skiing and embrace the lessons he left for us on enjoying life to the fullest. The Lewandowski Family is hoping to build on the $100,000 they have raised in the past seven years.
