Frequently Asked Questions

Registration

Q. What is the registration fee?
A. The registration fee is $50, which goes toward the fundraising minimum, for all participants except for volunteers. Each route requires adults 18+ raise a minimum of $500 to participate.  Children 17 and under are required to raise $100.

Q. Why is there a fundraising minimum?
A. Because the Ride goes through a number of towns, we have to be respectful of the wishes of each, which include the number of riders on the road. The fundraising minimum is in place to ensure we don't exceed the allowed number of riders. The minimum is significantly lower than similar ride events.

Q. What happens if I haven't met the minimum by Ride day?
A. Unlike many similar events, the Boston Brain Tumor Ride gives you until July to meet the minimum. If you haven't met the minimum by Ride day you will be asked to provide credit card information when you check-in and before you can get a bib number. Your card will not be charged until July, and you will receive notification well in advance if you still haven't met the minimum by then.

Q. When is the deadline for registration?
A. Mail-in registrations will be accepted through Monday, May 3. Online registration closes on Tuesday, May 11 at 12 noon. You can register at packet pick-up or onsite on Ride day.

Q. I participated in the Ride last year and I'm having problems registering online for this year's Ride.
A. Please contact RideInfo@braintumorride.org and we'll help you with the registration process.

Q. What if I forgot my Username and Password?
A. Remember that your username and password are case sensitive. Go to the login page and follow the instructions to retrieve lost information. You will receive an e-mail with your username and password. If you still have problems, please contact RideInfo@braintumor.org.

Q. How do I change my Username and/or Password?
A. First, login to the site using your username and password. Once logged in you will see a link at the top of the page called "Update My Profile". Once in your profile, you will be able to update your contact information, e-mail address, preferences, username and password. All changes will be made to your account immediately. There is no need to sign in again.

Q. I am riding tandem. Do we both have to register? And are we both responsible for the minimum fundraising obligation?
A. Yes, anyone age 9 or older must register, and each rider must meet the minimum fundraising goal for his or her age group.

Q. How do I join a team?
A. Go to Register and select "Register to Join a Team" from the options provided. Type in the name of the team in the field where prompted and hit search. Click on "Join" in the list below on the far right and register as rider, virtual participant or volunteer. If you do not remember the name of the team, just click the search button while leaving the fields blank and all team names will appear. You can also go to the Quick Links on the left and "Find a Participant," where you can look up the person you know and see the team's name there.

Q. What does a Team Captain do?

A. A Team Captain motivates the team, drives fundraising, and engages new members, as well as spreading the word about the event.  As a Team Captain, you can perform several tasks. In addition to monitoring the fundraising progress on the Team Progress page, you can customize the Team Page with a description and photo, update the fundraising goal and make changes to team information if necessary. Click here to learn more about teams.

Q.  I registered as an individual; can I now join a team?
A. Yes. Please contact RideInfo@braintumor.org and provide your full name and the Ride team you would like to join and your information will be adjusted accordingly.

Q.  I thought I registered on a team, but I am not showing up on the team list. How can I change that?
A.  Send an email to RideInfo@braintumor.org and include your name and the team name you want to join.

Q.  Is there a limit on the age of a Rider?

A.  Safety is our main concern. Because Ride routes are not closed to traffic, children under the age of 9 should remain at the main site to enjoy the Kids' Korner.

Q.  Do I have to register my 3-year old?
A.  Although there will not be a fundraising goal for a child under 9 who rides with you in an attachment, we would like to know how many people are on the road. Please note the attachment and age of your child in the comment section of your own registration form.

Q. What does registration entitle me to?

A. No matter what route you register for, you receive a Ride t-shirt and a Ride bib number.

Q. Is my personal information secure?
A. Convio, the company that powers the Ride website, makes every effort to protect your personal contact and credit card information. They use industry-standard SSL encryption techniques to make sure your credit card information, passwords and personal information travel securely over the Internet.

Q. How are credit card transactions handled?

A. Credit card information is not stored in our database. During the donation process, we send an individual's credit card information to an online processing terminal using a secure connection. The information passed back is an approval or denial for the credit card donation.

A. Due to the volume of checks we receive it could take up to four (4) weeks to post them on the website. The donations may have been credited to the Ride in general or to the team in general. Please contact RideInfo@braintumor.org to ensure that the donation is credited to your personal page. Provide your full name and the donor's full name and donation amount. Q.  I donated online and I don't see my names listed on my friend's personal page. What do I do?
A. You may have accidentally donated to the Ride in general or to the team in general. Otherwise, the only way to see your name listed on the fundraising honor roll is to donate specifically to a person. Please contact RideInfo@braintumor.org and we will credit the appropriate individual.

Q. How are funds raised through the Boston Brain Tumor Ride used?
