Volunteer Duties

We will do our best to match you with your preferred volunteer role; however, due to demand this is not always possible.

Balloon Arch
6:00 – 8:00 AM
You will assist in building the balloon arch which participants will walk under upon starting and finishing the event.

Bicycle Technician
6:45 AM. – 1:00 PM
Description: Assist riders in need of technical help on the route, rest stops, and at the event start/finish. Bring your tools.

Breakdown Crew
12:00 – 1:00 PM
At the end of the event, you will organize and pack supplies in the tent and assist with clean up.

Brain Tumor Ride Tent
6:30 AM – 12:00 PM
When you arrive, you will help set up the Brain Tumor Walk tent. You will encourage people to sign the Hope and Memory banner and help distribute giveaways.  At the end of the event, you will organize and pack supplies in the tent and assist with clean up.

Cheerleaders
8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Cheer on the participants as they start the walk and welcome them back when they return. Noisemakers are provided.

Food Area - Breakfast
6:00 – 10:00 AM
When you arrive, you will assist in setting up the Food tent and keep the food area well stocked with delicious breakfast goods, drinks, and fruit.  At the end of the event, you will organize and pack supplies in the tent and assist with clean up.

Food Area - Lunch
10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Description: You will assist in rearranging the Food Tent to make room for lunch while keeping the food area well stocked. At the end of the event, you will organize and pack supplies in the tent and assist with clean up.

Greeters
6:00 – 10:00 AM
As a greeter you will welcome attendees, answer questions, and direct people to the Registration and Check-In tent. Greeters are encouraged to stay and transition to cheerleaders as the first riders, runners, or walkers cross the finish line.

Kids' Area
7:30 – 10:00 AM
When you arrive, you will help set up the Kids Area. You will help supervise activities, create and manage lines, and monitor safety.

Packet Pickup
Saturday-
9:30 AM - 2:00 PM
Assist staff with on-site registration. You will hand out numbered bibs for Riders and be available to take donations, hand out team T-shirts and answer any questions.

Registration and Check-In
6:00 – 11:00 AM
When you arrive, you will help set up the Registration and Check-In tent. You will check in pre-registered participants, register attendees who are registering that day, and/or collect donations. A mandatory registration training will take place at upon your arrival.

Reserved "VIP" Parking
6:30 - 9:30 AM
Monitor the reserved parking area and pre-approved parking list. A briefing about parking options and shuttle stop information will take place as applicable. 

Rest Stop/Water Station
7:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Description: Supply water and snacks to riders as they pass through your Rest Stop.  When you arrive, you will assist in setting up the Rest Stop tent and keep the food area well stocked.  At the end of the event, you will organize and pack supplies in the tent and assist with clean up.

Road Crew - Most Needed!
5:45 AM – 1:00 PM
The support vehicles are vital to the safety and success of our ride. Road Crew members provide support for the riders along the routes. Drivers must have a valid Drivers License and be over 18 years old. Drivers need to be helpful, patient, able to follow maps, and comfortable stopping safely along the roadside. Drivers may transport riders and their bicycle to a rest stop. Ability to change bike flat tires is a bonus. Drivers may have a ham radio operator riding along with them, and will also need to be able to carry an additional passenger. Drivers will use their own vehicles, which could be a van, pick-up, SUV or car with a bike rack.

Road Signage Crew
On Saturday May 18th, Road Signage Supervisors will guide you to place directional signs on the 10-Mile, the 25-Mile and the 50-Mile routes.  Start time TBD, usually between 8am and 9am. Time required: Approximately 5 hours, no vehicle needed. Safety vest, tee shirt, lunch and water provided.

On Sunday, May 19th, Road Signage Supervisors will work with you to remove all directional signs on the 10-Mile, the 25-Mile and the 50-Mile routes.  Start time - around 12:00 PM Time required: approximately 5 hours, no vehicle needed. Safety vest, tee shirt, lunch and water provided.

Route and Safety Guides
7:00 AM. - 1:00 PM
Direct Ride participants from the start/finish safely around the course and back. Volunteers will assist with road crossings, directions, crowd control and information.

Set-Up Crew
5:30 – 7:30 AM.
Help with unloading and placing boxes and supplies in the tents in preparation for event.  Organize tables in their tents and place tablecloths on the tables.  Assist as necessary in setting up the event.

Signage
5:45 – 6:45 AM
As a volunteer you will help with placing the signs along the route and general area to direct people to the event.

T-shirts
6:30 AM. – 12:00 PM
When you arrive, you will assist in the set up of the T-shirt area and distribute event T-shirts to pre-registered participants.  At the end of the event, you will take inventory on sheet provided, organize and pack supplies in preparation for storage or shipping, pick up trash, stack tables and chairs, and assist with clean up.

Volunteer Check-In
6:00 - 10:00 AM 
Please come to the Volunteer Tent upon arrival. You will assist with checking volunteers in, giving them their T-shirts, route maps and answering basic questions about the Ride. You will work in the tent for the duration of your shift. One staff member from National Brain Tumor Society will lead the area and give you a brief training when you arrive.
