Volunteer Duties

We will do our best to match you with your preferred volunteer role; however, due to demand this is not always possible.

Balloon Arch
8:00 – 10:00 AM
You will assist in building the balloon arch which participants will walk under upon starting and finishing the event.

Breakdown Crew
12:30 – 2:30 PM
At the end of the event, you will organize and pack supplies in the tent and assist with clean up.

Brain Tumor Walk Tent
8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
When you arrive, you will help set up the Brain Tumor Walk tent. You will encourage people to sign the Hope and Memory banner and help distribute giveaways.  At the end of the event, you will organize and pack supplies in the tent and assist with clean up.

Cheerleaders
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Cheer on the participants as they start the walk and welcome them back when they return. Noisemakers are provided.

Food Area - Breakfast
7:30 AM – 1:00 PM
When you arrive, you will assist in setting up the Food tent and keep the food area well stocked with delicious breakfast goods, drinks, and fruit.  At the end of the event, you will organize and pack supplies in the tent and assist with clean up.

Greeters
8:00 – 10:30 AM
As a greeter you will welcome attendees, answer questions, and direct people to the Registration and Check-In tent. Greeters are encouraged to stay and transition to cheerleaders as the first riders, runners, or walkers cross the finish line.

Kids' Area
8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
When you arrive, you will help set up the Kids Area. You will help supervise activities, create and manage lines, and monitor safety. 

Line Monitors
8:00 - 10:30 AM
Assist and support registration tent with crowd direction and control in the lines. At the end of the event, you will organize and pack supplies in the tent and assist with clean up.

Off-Site Parking
8:30 - 11:00 AM
Direct event traffic to the offsite parking area and guide foot traffic to the Brain Tumor Walk shuttle stop when applicable.

Raffle
7:30 AM. – 1:30 PM
When you arrive, you will help set up the raffle area.  You will sell tickets and help distribute prizes at the end of the event and assist with cleanup as necessary.

Registration and Check-In
7:30 AM – 1:00 PM
When you arrive, you will help set up the Registration and Check-In tent. You will check in pre-registered participants, register attendees who are registering that day, and/or collect donations. A mandatory registration training will take place at 6:45 a.m.

Reserved "VIP" Parking
7:00 - 11:00 AM.
Monitor the reserved parking area and pre-approved parking list. A briefing about parking options and shuttle stop information will take place as applicable.

Route and Safety Guides
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Direct walk participants from the start/finish safely around the course and back. Volunteers will assist with road crossings, directions, crowd control and information.

Set-Up Crew
7:00 – 9:30 AM
Help with unloading and placing boxes and supplies in the tents in preparation for event.  Organize tables in their tents and place tablecloths on the tables.  Assist as necessary in setting up the event.

Signage
7:00 – 9:00 AM, 12:30 - 2:00 PM
As a volunteer you will help with placing the signs along the route and general area to direct people to the event.

Team Sign Craft Area
8:30 - 11:00 AM
Set up the designated team sign making area and set out craft supplies.

T-shirts
7:30 AM – 1:00 PM
When you arrive, you will assist in the set up of the T-shirt area and distribute event T-shirts to pre-registered participants.  At the end of the event, you will take inventory on sheet provided, organize and pack supplies in preparation for storage or shipping, pick up trash, stack tables and chairs, and assist with clean up.

Shuttle Stops
8:45 AM – 1:30 PM
Answer questions and assist participants with loading/unloading from the shuttle at the shuttle stop.

Traffic Monitors
8:00 - 11:00 AM
Direct vehicles to the drop-off area in order to unload passengers. A briefing about parking options and shuttle stop information will take place as applicable.

Volunteer Check-In
7:00 - 10:00 AM, 12:00 - 1:00 PM

You will help the Volunteer Coordinator with checking volunteers in, collecting waivers from each volunteer and handing them a Volunteer T-Shirt.
