Your Dollars In Action

National Brain Tumor Society is a nonprofit organization inspiring hope and providing leadership within the brain tumor community. We exist to find a cure and improve the quality of life for those affected by brain tumors.

We invest wisely and strategically across the research spectrum, seeking new approaches and improving existing treatments, which will ultimately lead to a cure. Our staff and advisory team encourage research that connects directly to patient care and enhances quality of life for all brain tumor patients. National Brain Tumor Society advocates for public policies that meet the critical needs of the brain tumor community and provides comprehensive patient, family, and caregiver resources.

Research

  • NBTS offers grants to researchers whose work has been vetted by our stringent peer review system in order to maximize impact. In the past three years alone, NBTS has funded over $10 million in brain tumor research across North America.
  • We advance brain tumor research through funding initiatives that support both academic and industry scientists:
  • Mary Catherine Calisto Systems Biology Initiative a $5 million, five-year grant program, to study brain tumors using a systems biology approach.
  • Innovation Research Grant Program ongoing program designed to support highly innovative or catalytic research projects that will significantly move the field forward.
  • Pediatric Research Grant Initiative molecular profiling research is underway and developmental neurobiology grants have just been awarded.

Patient Information

Our goal is to improve the quality of life of brain tumor patients and their families. We empower them through online information and resources, including educational materials, treatment center and resource databases, a clinical trial matching service, and an online community.

Advocacy

NBTS gives a voice to the brain tumor community and fights for resources and policies that will result in better treatments and better quality of life for those affected by brain tumors. Public policy advocacy can inform and influence decisions about increased research funding, affordable and accessible health insurance, access to comprehensive treatment options, and policies that support caregivers and families.
