Support My Fight Against Brain Tumors
On November 17, 2008 my dad, Jan Knisely, was found on the floor of the bathroom not making sense. We thought he had had a stoke or something so we got him quickly to the hospital. After a few hours of tests we were sent to UC to be told the next morning that my dad had a brain tumor. We had hope because we were told we caught it early. But, on Dec 5 after the biopsy we were not as optimistic because we found out that not only did he have glioblastoma multiforme brain cancer but the tumor was already at stage four. We were told all the statistics and that he would probably not make it more then 6 months. Well, my dad was a stubborn man who made it three years with a brain tumor thanks to chemo, radiation and the awesome staff at UC hospital who gave our family three extra years with my dad. He passed away on April 8, 2011.
Now that he is gone, I run in his honor. I am participating to improve the lives of all those affected by brain tumors. I am passionate about this cause and that is why my husband and I are running! Funds raised here helps to direct promising research, support families who are currently coping with the effects of a brain tumor diagnosis, and advocate for change. I have joined this movement to bring the issue of brain tumors to the forefront. Progress is being made, but there is so much more to be done. Please support my efforts!
