Fundraising Honor Roll

Each of us has our own reason for walking in the fight against brain tumors.  I joined the team to walk in loving memory of my little cousin Joey. He was diagnosed with glioblastoma at at the age of 2 and after a 17 month battle, our worst nightmare became reality. Joey was a trooper through all of his surgeries and chemo treatments. As time passed, Joey became weak and was unable to walk, he no longer had an appetite,  and most of the time was crying saying his head hurt.

I don't think I could type enough words to describe how helpless I felt, along with everyone else. He kept his parents and caregivers busy requesting ice cream, pancakes, fishies and soda, usually all within a 10 minute period. Nothing seemed to satisfy his cravings. I hear about people having cancer all the time, but until you experience it up close and personal you can't fully grasp how horrible it actually is. His weight loss was significant, giving him many different faces through his battle. No child should have to go through this. If Joey left us knowing one thing, it was that he was loved by so many people. He touched the lives of people who had never even met him. Through pictures and stories, we will forever keep Joey's memories alive.
