Fundraising Honor Roll

I am uniting with others to make a difference in the fight against brain tumors. I am passionate about this cause so I am taking action!

My husband, Timothy Ray Hebert (Timmy to family and close friends), was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor January 31, 2012.  Following a successful craniotomy, in which most of the tumor was resected, he began radiation treatments and chemotherapy.  After just 2 weeks of treatment at our local cancer center, Timmy experienced complications and was taken to ER.  At first, no one seemed to know what was happening.  Then it became apparent that he had had a seizure caused by swelling in his brain and slipped into a coma.  Within 48 hours, Timmy was gone.  Whether it was a result of his radiation treatment or his decadron taper, I will never know.  All I know is that about a month after he was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme, my husband of 28 years... the man I'd loved for more than half my life...the father of my 3 adult children...my 3 grandchildren's "Grandpa"...a beloved high teacher...well-known historian and geneologist...webmaster and computer expert.. and respected church leader...was suddently lost to this terrible disease.

I soon discovered that brain tumors are no longer a rare occurence.  In fact there were at least 3 other men about the same age as my husband in our local hospital at the same time we were who also had brain tumors.  As I talked to more people, I realized that there were many more in our communtiy who had been affected by this disease.
