Throughout our journey through life, there are many 'detours' that we come upon. These detours appear suddenly and without warning. We are not always prepared with information to ready us for the coming detour. Seldom do we know the length of the detour, if it is going to be quick, without consequences and get us back on the highway we call life or a long, rough winding road, way out of the way that must be traveled slowly and carefully. Some detours end up to be the most beautiful scenery and experiences you have ever come acrossed, while others test your patience, emotions and bring you to the edge of breaking.
Detours, often lead to a greater appreciation of the 'Good Highway'. A greater appreciation for the gift life truly is.
A diagnosis of a brain tumor is one of those life detours. This detour, however, has many other detours within it, treatment options, recovery, work, finances and family. With no available cure and limited treatment options, brain tumors dramatically impact the quality of life for all those affected. In order to better understand all brain tumors, develop effective treatments and create patient services funds are needed. If you are or know of someone who has encountered this detour you have a greater understanding of what this all means.
Please join me in raising awareness and critical funds to support the National Brain Tumor Society research efforts by either participating or donating. Funds raised here helps to direct promising research, support families who are currently coping with the effects of a brain tumor diagnosis, and advocate for change.
