Leah - Captain of Hope By the Bay
"He didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it." ~Clarence Budington Kelland
My father, Barry William Recht lived every day of his life with excitement and love for each moment. Those who knew him gravitated toward him-- his personality so outgoing, his demeanor so inviting-- his very existence was a magnetic force. For a man who loved so many and did so much and made such an impact on those around him, 58 years was simply not enough time. On June 19, 2007, Barry lost his final battle with the chordoma brain tumor that he fought so fiercely for over three years. He has been painfully missing from this earth for over ten years, but his energy lives on in and inspires his family and friends, and even those who never knew him. On June 23, 2019, team Hope By The Bay will participate in our third annual Bay Area Brain Tumor Walk (after 10 years as the Hoya Lawyas for Hope at the Race for Hope DC and our inaugural West Coast event last year) in memory of Barry Recht and in honor of all those whose lives have been affected by brain tumors. There are too many of us and the pain is too great to bear alone, but the HOPE prevails.
National Brain Tumor Society unrelentingly invests in, mobilizes, and unites our community to discover a cure, deliver effective treatments, and advocate for patients and care partners.
Conquering and curing brain tumors - once and for all.
