Hope you are well! It's that time again, hard to believe a year has passed. I can think of no better way than to remember our friend Ken than to walk in the Bay Area Brain Tumor walk in his honor. I can also think of no better way of telling you about the walk than sharing the same story I shared with you last year.
For two years our good friend Ken Slover participated in the Bay Area Brain Tumor Walk. Family and friends joined Ken as he walked the 3.1 mile course in Golden Gate Park. Slove shared with me that he had never participated in an event like this and really got a charge out of all the support and encouragement of others who were out on the walk. There were folks who were walking in support of their loved ones and also people who were survivors of a Brain Tumor.
Ken wore the shirt of a brain tumor survivor and in his usual Slover style was laughing, joking and giving us all a hard time. Near the end of Ken's first walk in 2010, he distracted me by having me check something "T look at that!" he proceeded to step up his pace and crossed the finish line ahead of me. Even though this wasn't a competition he thought that was the funniest thing and as you can imagine gave me a hard time all year about how he kicked my ass at the finish line, pure Slover.
Unfortunately Ken won't be with us this year as we walk; however he will be there in spirit, I'm pretty sure of it. What better way to celebrate the life of our good friend and family member than coming out to Golden Gate Park on May 4th and walking in Ken's honor. At the same time you can help the National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS) put the search for a cure for Brain Tumors into overdrive, by making a donation. Progress is being made, but there is so much more to be done. Most importantly just your presence at Golden Gate Park to honor Ken on May 4th and walk with us in his memory is a great gift.
