Why I Ride?
We lost our dad 25 years ago to a brain tumor. He was an extremely influential person in me and my family’s life and putting my bias aside - one of the kindest, most thoughtful, good-hearted people I have ever come across. We all felt so fortunate to call him our dad and friend and do many things on a regular basis to try and live up to his standards and keep his memory alive. For me, the ride does two primary things: 1) provides another forum for me to talk about my dad with friends, family (including my wife and kids who never met him) and others; and when I am out there riding it feels amazing to have a couple of hours alone thinking about him and knowing we are all doing something great in his memory/honor - very bittersweet for me and 2) use his name to help raise awareness and money for a cause so dear to our hearts and try to help other families going through this; and ideally raise enough funds so the amazing doctors can help find a cure to help future patients and their families. I know, an ambitious goal, but what we all strive for.
