This cause is very near and dear to my heart. I have been participating for a few years now and am finally ready to share. Last year was my first year forming a team for the Northwest Brain Tumor Walk. A couple years ago, one of my best friends passed away from a rare brain cancer. A few years before, when she was diagnosed, the tumor was already the size of a golf ball. Prior to her diagnosis, she had opened her own chiropractic practice—her patients always being her top priority. She was one of the most compassionate, generous, and selfless practitioners and individuals I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. She treated all her patients as family and did everything in her power to get them back on their feet as quickly as possible. When patients were financially unable to pay, she would provide treatment regardless as she just wanted them to make a complete recovery.

The year following her diagnosis, she had to close down her practice. The tumor had grown to impact her speech and mobility. Through constant surgeries, treatments, and therapies, she persevered with resiliency—never once voicing her pain. Whenever asked, she cracked a smile with an, “I’m okay.” She was so strong and ended up living past the doctor’s predicted life expectancy for her. Through her illness, she continued to visit and care for others who weren’t feeling well or for those who needed assistance. She was and is still truly an inspiration. Years following her diagnosis, she lost the battle to cancer in 2016, but she has forever won our hearts.

I am uniting with others to make a difference in the fight against brain tumors. I am passionate about this cause, so I’m taking action. I need your help in this fight.  National Brain Tumor Society will not rest until a cure exists - but more needs to be done. Please join in my effort!
