As many of you know my father-in-law, Michael Mares, passed away on October 24th, 2009 after a six month fight with brain cancer.  His official diagnosis was Glioblastoma, which is the most common and most aggressive type of brain tumor.  Mike is survived by his wife of thirty years, Terri, two sons, Bobby and Tom, a daughter, Carol, and six wonderful grandchildren, Kenny, Tyler, Kyle, Grace, Donovan and Riley.

In memory of Mike, my family will be participating in this years Race for Hope in Washington, DC.  It takes place on May 4th, 2014.  This will be our 5th year participating in the Race for Hope and we'd like to make it a year to remember!  The walk/run is SO much fun. We would love to have you join our team whether you want to walk, run or even be a virtual runner (where you can just help us raise money, if you choose)!

The Race for Hope - DC Presented by Cassidy & Pinkard Colliers is one of the largest national fundraisers for brain tumors, with proceeds benefiting the National Brain Tumor Society and Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure.  It is open to all participants who seek a 5K challenge on a runner-friendly course or a beautiful walk in the nation's capital, all as a fun way to support the brain tumor community.

Please help support our family by joining us in the walk on May 4th or by donating to our team, no matter how big or small the donation.  Every little bit helps.

With deepest thanks,

Tina
