In 2009 and 2010 Jeff's wife, Josie, was captain of Jeff's teams.  However, this year, as Jeff's Mom I am honored to do so, as Josie prepares to run her first marathon, the 2011 Marine Corps Marathon - yes the whole 26.2 miles! She will do so in honor of Jeff as a part of the Race Towards A Cure, benefitting cutting-edge brain cancer research through Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure.

Jeff and Josie have two boys, 7 and 4 (almost 5).  When Jeff's first tumor was discovered, we realized the unknown growth in his head was growing at a fast rate, and so his first surgery was in March 2006, just a few days before his youngest son was about to be born.  Since then Jeff has been running his long road of recovery and treatment.  His first surgery was followed daily by 6 weeks of intense and strong head and spine radiation and chemotherapy.  He recovered and was back, moving at full force, when the brain cancer returned in Dec 2009.  This time he had surgery and stem cell rescue therapy with intense chemotherapy, very high risk.  He is recovering well from his second bout and we know we have been blessed with all the wonderful doctors and hospitals that have treated him, and we have also been blessed by the many prayers and positive energy that you, our family and friends, have sent his way.  Thank you, all!  As of now, Jeff has memory and strength issues, but he is gradually improving.  His journey is located at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jeffreycullina/mystory .
