Welcome to My Personal Page
Thank you for joining me in supporting the Race for Hope, in memory of my amazing mother, Harriet Feder.
My mom always joked that she didn't understand how anyone could look down at a cute little, newborn baby and name them Harriet. Therefore, she gravitated toward nicknames; her grandkids called her Honey, but her favorite nickname was the one my father gave her, Gracie. The origins of this nickname are not totally clear to me, but the name is an apt one for my mother who I think truly embodied the idea of living with grace. She ardently worked to better the world around her and to give voices to those who did not have the strength to speak up for themselves. She volunteered throughout her community and was a fundraiser like few I have ever seen.
As such, I appreciate your support for Gracie's Greenies, who will be running and walking on May 6 to help those who have fought hard and continue to fight brain tumors. Shortly after my mom passed away last month, I started looking for a local race that I could tackle and help me to get my groove back. I had turned to running throughout my mom's illness as both an emotional outlet and a way to make sure I had enough strength to continue supporting her. So, when a quick web search showed an upcoming race to support brain tumors, I knew that my mom's grace must be at play and telling me this was the challenge I needed to tackle, with the help of a lot of friends.
How can you help?
You can join Gracie's Greenies and come out to either run or walk the 5K race on the morning of May 6 in Washington, DC. If you can't run or walk with us that day, you can still help support this effort, by making a donation on behalf of Gracie's Greenies and in memory of my mom. Anything you can give, from $1 to $100, will help support this important cause.
Thank you for your support.
