Welcome to My Personal Page
In 2009 Jocelyn, my granddaughter was diagnosed with a Medulloblastoma brain tumor at the age of 8 years old. Since that time Jocelyn has bravely continued her fight to conquer this ugly illness. The tumor was removed and Jocelyn finished her last chemo treatment in September 2010, with all of her scans coming up clean.
Inspired by Jocelyn’s unwavering courage in the face of such a diagnosis, and wanting to help in any way possible, Jocelyn's Titi Chrissy created the first Jocelyn's Journey team in Arizona in 2009 for the first walk to support this little girl and all other children struggling with this disease. This will be our second year, in Washington D.C., and will be the fifth walk Jocelyn’s family and friends are participating in, and we know every dollar we raise is helping someone with a brain tumor get the support they need.
Last year, our first DC walk was so successful, we exceeded our team and personal goals by 50%. Our 41 team members made a great statement in our neon yellow T-shirts walking through DC. As a new team we ranked 62 out of 500 plus teams. $8,000 was donated in Jocelyn's name to help the fight against brain tumors.
After the walk our runners, walkers, donators and a lot of their family members showed up at our Celebration BBQ where we all decided that if each of us just doubled our fundraising effort we can increase our donation this year.
Our family will continue to help the fight against brain tumors and children's cancers Jocelyn's Journey will continue this year. We hope each of you that participated last year will donate as 'team members' this year and through your friends, co workers and families try to double even triple what you donated last year. Those of you that could not join us last year may consider doing so this year.
Plan on joining us we can make it better. OUR NEW 2014 GOAL IS $16,000! Your generous support of the Race for Hope DC puts us one step closer to finding a cure for brain tumors.
Jocelyn is doing great, but there are many many more babies and children fighting for the life that is their right to have. Thank you all, Jocelyn, Kimberly, Pete, Christine, Darryl and Suzanne
