Welcome to My Personal Page
My aunt Kathie (Volk) Maloney, 63, passed away in Chugiak, Alaska on November 24, 2012, after a two-year battle with brain cancer. She was my mom's sister-in-law, although she was part of the Maloney family since elementary school. Kathie and my Uncle Bobby were soul mates, and they had been together since they were 12 years old. They lived in Alaska and she was the only person who could get me to camp, fish, and be in the wilderness! A pastime we both loved was shopping. Kathie could out-shop anyone I know! Kathie was a Presidential Scholar in math and willingly gave her time and energy to her students. She was an amazing woman and fought very long and hard against her disease. We miss her every day. I hope to raise money in honor of Kathie Maloney.
This is my second year participating in this event in memory of my aunt. My family was very proud to be a part of Race for Hope last year, and I was blown away by the generosity of friends and family who donated toward my goal. I had to reset my goal four times because I kept surpassing it! The love for Kathie Maloney did not end with her passing; it continues to grow and that was evident last year. Even our golden retriever crossed the finish line, something I know aunt Kathie would have enjoyed!
The Race for Hope - DC presented by Cassidy Turley raises funds to support innovative research initiatives and provide information for brain tumor patients and their families. This amazing event relies on the dedication and enthusiasm of individuals, families, teams, volunteers, sponsors and donors. Thank you for your support to help us find a cure for brain tumors!
