On race day, we will see you outside the JW Marriott at Metro Center at 8:15am on Sunday May 4, 2014; look for our Survivor Orange T-Shirts and Signs: Cranium Crusaders for Craig Matter. Here is a Message to our team, Cranium Crusaders for Craig Matter, from Jake and John Matter:
Most of you know that our Dad, Craig Edward Matter, passed away on May 12, 2010, from stage IV brain cancer caused by metastatic melanoma. He waged a brave and determined struggle because he, like so many others who've traveled this path, wanted more than anything to live. And he had so much to live for. Of course, we believe our Dad was the greatest Dad on the planet! But he was so much more -- he was passionate about many things in life -- his work as an engineer and inventor (and there were always many works in progress around our house!). Dad was an enthusiastic volleyball player, a dedicated Webelos Den Leader, a classically trained dancer (before Dancing With The Stars was ever created!), a lover of dogs, Yahtzee, golf, astronomy, and all things science. And he was a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Engineering! Our Dad was a hardhead who believed strongly in NEVER GIVING UP. To that end, we march forward in the name of the Cranium Crusaders for Craig Matter (formerly Craig's Cranium Crusaders). Dad was one of the strongest cancer warriors on the planet. He never gave up his fight and believed in the important role we all have to help find a cure for cancer. He was dedicated to finding new initiatives, clinical trials and medical innovations for his particular cancer, and he believed strongly in the value of integrated cancer research. We want to Thank each and every one of you for the continued love and support you have given us throughout our Journey -- and today our Journey continues!
Now, we are asking you to do one more thing to ensure that others who are suffering from Metastasizing Melanoma of the Brain will have a cure some day soon. Please join our team or kindly make a donation. Every penny of your donation goes directly to cancer research to find a cure for this deadly disease. You can participate in the race or simply make a donation! Let's do this for Dad! Jake and John Matter, We Love You Dad and we remember what you told us -- Hardheads Never Give Up!!!
