You wouldn't have guessed it if you looked at me now (unless you looked at the scar in the back of my neck...), but yes... by race day 2014, I'll be a10-year brain tumor survivor.

In April 2004, I was diagnosed with an intercranial Ependymoma*  (a grade 2-3 borderline**). It's been ten years since I took on all the surgery, physical therapy, and radiation treatments that went along with that diagnosis.

I've survived that battle...Right now, I'm active, thriving, and relatively healthy. I can't sit on my laurels, though... I have to go in for biennial checks to ensure the tumor doesn't come back.

I'm walking in the Race for Hope in the hopes that fewer people will be affected by brain tumors in the future. I walk to give back to the community of fellow survivors who have helped me through this struggle and also walk in memory of others who are no longer here (Miss you, Bernie, David W., and Steve!).

Please support me -- either by joining my team, the "Cornbread Racing Team" (virtual runners welcome!), giving donations to me and/or my teammates, or just coming to the Race for Hope and cheering us on!

Many thanks!
