Cindy's Crew Team for 2014
Thanks for visiting the web sight for Cindy's Crew and the Race for Hope. This will be the 10th year that we will run the race. We are excited to once again participate in the race where the funds go toward helping to find a cure for brain tumors.
As I am sure you all know, I was diagnosed with a grade II brain tumor in December of 2004. I went through a couple of treatments in the Spring of 2005. Fortunately, these treatments have helped to make my tumor a little smaller. In May 2012, we found that the tumor had started to grow again. I had a biopsy, and found that the tumor was still a grade II. Due to that good news, I started taking Temador to help stop the growth again. When we went to UVA in December 2012, we found that my tumor was no longer accepting the dye. To us, that ment that my tumor had stopped growing again. In January 2013, my white blood cell count went down dramatically. So, I had to stop taking the Temador. However, the good news is that not only did my white blood cell count come back, but to date, the tumor has still not showed any signs of growth. Hopefully, we will continue to get good news. My hope is that not only my tumor, but all people with brain tumors, can find a way to stop the tumors growth and live long healthy lives. Hopefully, the money raised from this race will help to accomplish that goal.
If you are interested in joining our team it would be wonderful! You do not have to run. You can walk. It is 3.2 miles and it is a beautiful course. If running or walking do not appeal to you and you still want to help, of course we will take a financial donation. Any little bit helps!
