Welcome to My Personal Page
Race for Hope
May 7, 2017
Brain cancer is a very personal thing for me, as I lost both my Dad and my mother-in-law within 14 months to this horrible disease: My mother-in law from an in-operable brain tumor and my Dad from metastatic brain cancer. From a caregivers standpoint I have experienced what a treatment cycle is like, how radiation affects them, how the medications change them. And as a child I have endured the loss... not only their physical death but the death of the person they were.
It's what created the drive in me to want to give back... to try and do something to keep anyone else from having to suffer through this form of cancer.
It wasn't until 2009 that I was lucky enough to become involved with the 'Race for Hope' by becoming a member of 'David Cooks Team for a Cure', attending my first race and walking the 5k in a torrential downpour. Standing in Freedom Plaza I met both survivors and the families who carried on after their loss just as I did... and knew I had found a philanthropic home.
Since then I have traveled to D.C. almost every year, adding myself to the thousands of survivors, families and supporters that flood Pennsylvania Avenue that first Sunday in May.
And WOW... I am so proud to be a part of David Cooks team... on December 2, 2014 we reached a milestone goal of raising 1 MILLION Dollars!!!!Dollars that fund the research and treatments that will someday find the cure.
It still amazes me every time I say it.
We couldn't have done it without all of you... my friends, co-workers and the businesses that have donated so generously over these past 8 years.
And now we have a new goal... of reaching 2 million dollars. Completely doable... since we are now around the 1.2 million mark.
All we need is your help.
So please, donate what you can... every penny counts. Volunteer... provide your support either in person or virtually.

Together we can make a difference and kick cancers ass!
