90 percent of goal achieved.

My name is Joanie Newnam and I am a brain tumor survivor, twice, 2004 & 2016.

Race for Hope DC, a 5K course in the nation's capital, is a fun and inspiring way to join forces in the fight against brain tumors by raising funds for research It's one of the largest fundraisers in the country that benefits the brain tumor community with proceeds supporting the National Brain Tumor Society and the Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure.

As a brain tumor survivor and member of David Cook's Team for a Cure, I have supported and participated in the Race for Hope-DC for 10 years.  WOW!, What an experience. It overwhelms me the number of people that participate, volunteer, and donate to this cause.  I am especially proud of my husband Joe and his Men's Golf Association, BRMGA, Club Staff and owners for donating so much of their time and raised an incredible amount.  We are a little short of our $100,000 Team Goal, so I hope you can dig down in your pockets or pocketbooks and find some extra cash to push us over the top.  Geez!, I always have a few bucks or coins and any amount is extra meaningful this year.  You see, 2 of my Aunts died this past year, Aunt Val suffered many years with a brain tumor and Aunt Audrey, though she died at 93, she also had a brain tumor.  My Dad also passed from a brain tumor  BUT, you know I have survived 2 brain tumors; my sister is also a brain tumor survivor and 2 good friends of mine JC, is a cancer free brain tumor survivor for 13 yrs, and SG also cancer free brain tumor survivor.

I am truly blessed.  I have a beautiful and supportive family, including 10 grandchildren WOW!,and understanding/true friends.  We have our challenges like most families do, but we have faith.

Will you please join us in making a donation to help find a cure for brain tumors.

With love and my heartfelt thanks,

Joanie Newnam
