"Hope is not a dream, but a way of making dreams reality" `~ Cardinal Leon Joseph Suenens

Several years ago, I worked in an office with about 40 other people. Since I left for a new job, five of my former co-workers have been diagnosed with brain cancer, and four of them have lost the battle they bravely fought, including a very good friend of mine. She left behind two young sons, the youngest of whom she found out she was pregnant with only a few days after being diagnosed. She put her treatment on hold to bring him into this world. Stephanie, I will always miss you. Your courage is my inspiration.

To have five people from such a small office all be stricken with brain cancer is unimaginable. To have lost four of them is devastating. I believe that working together, we will find a cure, so no one ever has to suffer such losses again.

Three years ago, I participated for the first time in the Race For Hope DC. Along with some friends, I joined the Race, walking in memory of Stephanie and my other former co-workers. The memory of that day still gives me chills. To see so many survivors, so many family members and friends, so many good people come together to run, or walk, or just volunteer to help fight this battle was unbelievable. To feel the love and the hope that filled the air that day... I don't have words to describe it. I can only say that I knew then that I would be back again and again, until a cure is found.

As I get ready for my 4th year as a team member, I ask that you please join with me in my effort to help rid the world of this terrible disease. Any donation is greatly appreciated, and will help. Thank you for your support, and remember... "We believe" a cure will be found.

The Race for Hope - DC presented by Cassidy Turley raises funds to support innovative research initiatives and provide information for brain tumor patients and their families. This amazing event relies on the dedication and enthusiasm of individuals, families, teams, volunteers, sponsors and donors. Thank you for your support in helping us find a cure for brain tumors!
