Welcome to My Personal Page
It's hard to believe this will be my fifth year participating in the Race for Hope DC! I am as excited and as commited as ever. I am so proud that this year I have no weight loss goals to focus on, only the goal to run instead of walk. That leaves lots of time and effort to put into fundraising!
The Race for Hope DC, a 5K course in the nation's capital, is a fun and inspiring way to join forces in the fight against brain tumors by raising funds for research. It is one of the largest fundraisers in the country benefiting the brain tumor community and the proceeds support National Brain Tumor Society and Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure.
I am looking forward to not only supporting David Cook, who lost his brother Adam in May 2009, but once again, taking those who I love and who have been affected by any kind of cancer, to DC with me in my heart.
This year my thoughts are with my long time friend Marty, who also happened to be my boss and co-worker for the past 15 years. Marty lost his battle with cancer on Christmas Day. I am still having trouble processing that he is gone and along with his wife and daughter we are carrying on his life's work at the CIBV. I also have five people who I love dearly to add, two of them are actively fighting at this very moment. Cure one kind and cure them all!
In addition to the above, I am dedicating my efforts once again this year to my neighbor, Tarek El Heneidy who lost his battle with brain cancer on January 3, 2013. Tarek was a peacful, gentle man, and all who knew him benefited from his open heart, his overflowing generosity, kindness, and unconditional nurturing love for all.
This disease has certainly touched me personally on many levels this past year and I am more determined than ever to try to make a difference.
Thank you for your support once again this year.
I love you all!
