Welcome to My Personal Page
Dear Friends and Family,
(Jan 24) Whew! I almost missed my goal to get my team setup for this year's Race for Hope before the end of January. Our house was just rocked by the flu. We all went down hard, one right after another, and lost an entire week. The place is a wreck and the dogs just look at us like we're pitiful. Though they didn't seem to mind all the extra sleeping. We're coming up for air now and getting the place picked up, bills paid, and working up the energy to sustain normal activities.
SO, with that mess behind us, it's time to start looking forward. It's hard to believe, but this will be the 9th year our team, Fitchett's Friends, has participated in the Race for Hope - DC. For those who are being introduced to this event for the first time, this is a well established and successful charity run/walk that allows us to join forces in the fight against brain tumors by raising funds for research. Since 2009, I have sponsored a team in the event and every year we've had great participation - joining to walk, talk and catch up with each other while supporting a great cause. We've also had an incredible following of family and friends who have made generous donations on my behalf, helping achieve my fund-raising goals year after year. You don't have to register to participate, and you don't have to participate to donate.
It has been nearly 9 years since I began living with a brain tumor. Other than the recent flu, and treatment related memory issues, my health has been relatively good. My last MRI was taken this past December, and the doctor continues to be happy with clean scans. Nine years and still going - wow! When I started this battle, we could only hope that things could go as well as they have. I like to think I'm tough, certainly tougher than my brothers (as if), but I know I am only here today because of the great people and minds that have cared for me and the considerable progress made in the campaign against brain tumors. Much of this has been made possible by advancements in research and applied treatments afforded through inspiring events like the Race for Hope.
I hope you will consider joining us for this year's walk on May 6th. We have a great group show up every year, and I look forward to spending time with them while we walk the city. If you can't join us, perhaps you'll consider contributing to this worthwhile cause and supporting us in spirit. Information for joining and/or donating to my team can be found herein.
Thank you again for all your thoughts, prayers and support. Please forward to anyone you think may be interested.
Love to all,
