Welcome to My Personal Page
Dear Friends and Family,
Hello, and Happy New Year! I hope you all are doing well. I'm good. It's been almost 10 years since my initial diagnosis, and this is our 10th year participating in the Race for Hope. Woohoo!!! I'm still doing my regular neuro-oncology checkups every three months without any further developments. Troy and I got an early jump on preparing for this year's walk. We've been braving the cold and walking the neighborhood. That helped prepare us for our recent tour of the Southwest where we hiked the Badwater Basin and Devil's Golf Course in Death Valley, and the Red Rock Canyons of Sedona. Well... we mostly took short walks and absorbed the beautiful scenery (and souvenir shops) while waiting on our more ambitious friends to come back. It's all about good intentions, right?
Speaking of good intentions, I'm reaching out because it's that time of year again - time to start thinking about this year's Race for Hope on Sunday, May 5th, in Washington DC. On a sad note, our fundraising efforts will be a bit more challenging going forward. We lost both of my parents last year. They were always among by biggest emotional and financial supporters. I'm comforted to know that they're resting in peace. They built a strong family and we're all doing fine. I leaned heavily on Mom and Dad over the past 10 years in dealing with this disease, and through their strength I'll keep pushing forward.
So, will you join us in this year's walk? For those who are being introduced to this event for the first time, this is a well-established and successful charity run/walk that allows us to join forces in the fight against brain tumors by raising funds for research. Since 2009, I have sponsored a team in the event and every year we've had great participation - joining to walk, talk and catch up with each other while supporting a great cause. We've also had an incredible following of family and friends who have made generous donations on my behalf, helping achieve my fund-raising goals year after year. You don't have to register to participate, and you don't have to participate to donate.
I know I am only here today because of the great people and minds that have cared for me, and the considerable progress made in the campaign against brain tumors. Much of this has been made possible by advancements in research and applied treatments afforded through inspiring events like the Race for Hope. I hope you will consider joining us for this year's walk on May 5th. We have a great group show up every year, and I look forward to spending time with them while we walk the city. If you can't join us, perhaps you'll consider contributing to this worthwhile cause and supporting us in spirit. Information for joining and/or donating to my team can be found herein.
Thank you again for all your thoughts, prayers and support. Please forward to anyone you think may be interested.
Love to all, Lisa
