Six years ago my husband Drew was on a ski trip with a friend from JMU. At the end of the trip they had taken off their skis, were walking towards the cars and decided to do 'one more run'. Drew was in front of his friend and they were on a green because it was the closest slope. All of a sudden Drew started shaking and Darren could see this from behind. With Drew being a known jokster, Darren didn't take it seriously until he came over the hill and saw him face down in the snow still shaking.

Drew was having a Grand Mal seizure caused by a brain tumor as we would find out later that night. 31 years old, married and the father of a 2 year old little girl. We were told he was lucky because it was low grade. He had a biopsy, and then surgery. We were told it could go dormant for years and we made the choice to move forward with our life plans which included a second little girl. Six months after his surgery (and into my pregnancy) we found out the tumor was growing again. He started chemo and from then on the journey never subsided.

Drew participaged in many years of chemo, a clinical trial and then the tumor went to high grade GBM. At that point he did radiation and continued chemo and the tumor quickly recurred. From there he did another 18 months of infusion chemo and finally lost his battle.

During all of those 6 years, he never once complained, only just saying "What else am I going to do, I just have to fight". Please honor him and fight with us.
