Welcome to My Personal Page
As most know Michael and i have relocated to Washington DC this year so in lieu of The Mark Sherman Memorial Golf outing to support the NY Brain Tumor Project we are fundraising this year for the National Brain Tumor Foundation's Race for Hope, Washington DC on Sunday May 5th, which is 5 days before what would have been Mark's 44th birthday.
On October 9th, 2001, my husband, Mark had a major car accident caused by blacking out from a grand-mal seizure.Amazingly he was unharmed from the accident, but the cause was a large brain tumor in his right lobe. He went through an 8 hour surgery and was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Multiforme, the most agressive type generally resulting in one year of life expectancy from diagnosis. After radition therapy and 3+ years of chemotherapy Mark was a strong survivor for over 8 years. He lived to see his 40th birthday and see our son Michael turn 11. His turmor recurred in January 2009 and after a year of difficult chemotherapies and surgery, Mark lost his battle on January 8, 2010 at 40 years old.
Mark's long survival was still a miraculous gift that was in no small part due to the world class care he received from the team of doctors at Weill Cornell Medical College led by Dr. Susan Pannullo. I proudly raised money directly for their research inititive, The NY Brain tumor project, but in relocating to Washington, DC I am unable to do that directly. The National Brain Tumor Society, and their major fundraiser, Race for DC, supports Dr, Panullo and her project along with many other reserch initiatives around the country to help find a cause and give hope to others with this horrible disease. I am proud also that it is an event strongly supported by the DC real estate community also promting my involvement.
Please help us fight this unfair disease. I would love for you to join my team and walk with us to support this important cause. If you are unable to walk with us and help fundraise, please donate what you can to help us reach our goal.
Thank you so much for help and support, as this means so much to me.
