Welcome to My Personal Page
The Race for Hope - DC presented by Cassidy Turley raises funds to support innovative research initiatives and provide information for brain tumor patients and their families. This amazing event relies on the dedication and enthusiasm of individuals, families, teams, volunteers, sponsors and donors. Thank you for your support in helping us find a cure for brain tumors!
Our brother, Andrew Hazel, was recently diagnosed with a rare brain disease called moyamoya. We love him more than words can say and are awed by his strength in fighting this diagnosis every day. The thing with brain injuries is that the patient may appear normal and fine on the outside, but there are more struggles going on in their minds, and with their abilites to communicate, than anyone can easily see or necessarily understand. It's more than challenging and the support of friends and families is critical to their recovery.
With Andrew's example of daily strength and determination against moyamoya, we are honored to help raise awareness against rare brain diseases, such as moyamoya, conditions including brain tumors, and horrible neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS, often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease.
Needless to say, brain injuries, traumas and diseases - you name it - they have become our family cause and we think its important to support one another.
We found out about this race through Andrew's best friend, Luke Bergeron, and our families and friends will be running alongside one another on Sunday, 4 May 2013.
Please join Andrew, his family, and Luke's family, by running with us or cheering on the sidelines. Andrew will be in DC and you know he is always very happy to see good friends and meet new people.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you in May!
