Tribute to Drew Yanishak
Drew and I both started at Markel in January, 2002. We worked together for several years, traveled together, and even shared a flat in London for a few months. We shared countless experiences and I could fill up a book of hilarious stories about our early days at Markel.
When we met, I was newly married and Drew was newly engaged to Charity. We both bought homes in the same time period. Several years later, my oldest son was born one month after his firstborn daughter. His second daughter arrived 2 weeks before her due date and beat my second son into the world by days.
Drew had an infectious smile and the purest heart of anyone that you have ever encountered. He was always up for anything and we had some great times together. I cherish the memories of bar hopping on Bourbon Street, searching for an emergency doctor in London, and pedaling mountain bikes down country roads from Salisbury to Stonehenge together.
Unfairly, Drew was diagnosed with cancer when he was 32 years old and lost his battle on February 21st of this year. His daughters are beautiful and full of life. You can see the glimmer of Drew in their eyes when they smile and laugh.
I am not one to solicit donations from people and have not done so in prior years. This year I decided to raise money in honor of Drew. I truly appreciate anything you will donate to assist in finding a cure or help others facing the cruelty of brain cancer.
My family will participate the Race for Hope alongside Drew's family and friends. Please consider making a donation in Drew's honor. Thank you!
