Between 1974 and 1982, Potomac Kicker Coaches Eric "Joe" Baer (Maryland, Virginia, and DC Soccer Hall of Fames, co-founder of Montgomery Soccer Inc.- MSI), Lionel Chaiken (co-founder of the Race for Hope - DC), and Gary Darrell (former Bermuda National Team coach and captain of the NASL Washington Diplomats) made a lasting impression on the lives of 25+ young Maryland boys known as the Potomac Kickers.  Not only did they coach us to a Final Four appearance in the 1981 U19 National Soccer Finals, but they also taught us many life lessons that each of us carry with us today.

In memory of our beloved coach Joe, who died on March 10, we are asking our friends and family to Help Us Raise $50,000 in 50 Days in support of the Washington DC Race for Hope - a cause championed by our other coach, Lionel Chaiken, who tragically lost his daughter Pamela Sue in 1995 after a 13 year battle with brain cancer.  Lionel and Sandy Chaiken's tireless efforts helped create the Washington DC Race for Hope and make it what it is today, raising millions so far to find a cure for brain cancer.

Help us celebrate the lives of Joe and Pamela Sue and fight this dreaded disease.  With your help, we can Raise $50,000 in 50 Days

After sadly laying Joe to rest last week, a group of former Potomac Kicker players and family decided to do something very special.  In honor of Coach Baer and in support of the Race for Hope - DC, we pledged to raise $50,000.

Coach Baer would be proud of this aggressive goal!  Let's fight brain cancer the same way Coach Baer taught us to attack the goal....."With a Sense of Urgency".
