JEFF'S JOGGERS - TEAM STORY - UPDATED
9 years ago all of this started for Jeff. Jeff, was diagnosed with brain cancer. He has been our hero as he went through surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. He did it all with courage and strength. Almost 4 years of clean MRI's. Two years ago Jeff had a recurrence and went through surgery, stem cell rescue therapy and high dose chemotherapy. The new pathology showed the tumor was a Glioblastoma versus the originally pathology of Medulloblastoma (PNET). Fall 2011 Jeff had his second reccurence with the brain cancer and started Avastin to try and control the growth of the tumor. The Avastin no longer worked by April 2012 and he started a clinical trial. The trial lasted only one month and was not effective. He was started on another drug with Avastin. This again didn't work. He is went back on Avastin and Temodar and eventually it none of the meds worked. After an amazing and strong battle Jeff succumbed to this terrible illness on Sunday March 24 of 2013. That is exactly 7 years to the day of his first brain surgery. We will continue to run this race in his honor and not think of how soon he was taken but how blessed we were to have him for as long as we did. And we will continue to do the work to raise money to fight this horrible disease.
