Tim's Running Bears
Where you used to be, there is a hole in the world
which I find myself constantly walking around
in the daytime, and falling into at night.
I miss you like hell. (Edna St. Vincent Millay, Letters)
Running Bears and Our Supporters:
On May 2, 2010, Timothy MacCarthy was taken from us by the monster known as brain cancer. Since then each day is marked by my father's palpable absence. The world just doesn't feel right without him in it.
To say Tim fought the good fight is an enormous understatement. When he was diagnosed doctors told him he had 12-18 months...and he got five years. He endured multiple brain surgeries, radiation and experimental chemotherapy. He took none of this lying down. He continued to work for a year. He traveled. He relished his life, his wonderful wife ("Luie!"), kids, grandchildren, family and long time friends. What he did best was to teach us how to live and love fully. And he was doing that long before he got sick.
So please join us in remembrance. Run, walk, or donate. Better yet, run, walk AND donate. The Race for Hope raises funds for innovative research initiatives and support services for brain tumor patients and their families.
Go Running Bears!
