This will be the fourth, maybe fifth year that we do the Race for Hope. We form a team thats simply called, "For Bryan". Bryan entertained us for a short 30 years before a brain tumor interfered with our good times and took him. We were left with a beautiful neice and an amazing nephew to ease the pain but still feel the call to do more, so that more people don't have to suffer. In return for your donation and optional team-mateship, we offer a Beer&Breakfast at my parents' house (affectionately known as "Sam and Dot") to honor Bryan and to toast each other in a job well done.
With this past year being as rewarding as it is and was with Sam and Olivia's arrivals, we have so much riding on the research that is being funded by this race. I look at my son and I hope that he has to learn about brain cancer through books and stories about his Uncle Bryan, and not through any sort of personal experience of his own. And I selfishly hope that as a mom I don't have to experience what my mom went through with her son. So here's to For Bryan, and to race day!
Medical research has been funded by races such as this, and the funds go directly to that research. Recent developments in brain tumor research have made break throughs in treatments that would have extended Bryan's life for potential years. While we can't change the past, we can run our behinds off to change the future! Thank you all again for either joining, donating, or just otherwise supporting us in this fight.
The Race for Hope - DC presented by Cassidy Turley raises funds to support innovative research initiatives and provide information for brain tumor patients and their families. This amazing event relies on the dedication and enthusiasm of individuals, families, teams, volunteers, sponsors and donors. Thank you for your support in helping us find a cure for brain tumors!
