Thank you for supporting Team Wiz. This year the race has a little more meaning for me as this year I have reached a personal milestone. It has now been more than ten years since my brain surgery. It is hard to believe that it has been so long since finding out about my brain tumor and though there have been some rough patches in those ten years, I can't begin to tell you how truly blessed that I feel. I am so lucky to be loved and supported the way that I have been- from work colleagues, friends, and family. Most of you know my wife, Sarah, and have an idea how strong that she is. She has worked so hard to keep things moving while I was dealing with the effects of the treatment and all of the secondary issues associated with it. She kept our family moving forward with her love, strength, and force of will and determination. She is why I am here today, cancer free ten years post operation. This year's race is dedicated to the love of my life and my rock, Sarah.
We would love for you to join us on race day. As always, we are more of a casual group, so please feel free to bring kids, dogs, strollers, etc. Last year Gigi rode her scooter and had a blast. For the serious runners out there please join us as well. You can catch up with the group after you run. (you know who you are)
We will be ordering Team Shirts on April 1 so please register by then if you would like a commemorative Team Wiz 10th Anniversary t-shirt.
For those who can't be with us on the road on race day, please think about making a donation to the team or to any of team members. The National Brain Tumor Society is the largest non-profit organization dedicated to the brain tumor community in the United States and does a lot of great work, both to aid in brain tumor related research, and to support patients and families trying to navigate their treatment. Please give what you can- $10, $20, $50 or whatever your budget will allow.
