Friends, Family, and Colleagues~
Well, it is that time of year again where I ask you all to look under the couch cushions for that extra spare change to support the Race for Hope – DC! Due to your awesome support last year, “The Gray Matters” team raised nearly ~$22k dollars to support finding a cure for brain tumors/cancer. Good job everybody, and a very sincere thank you from the Meadors!
The past year has flown by, and the Meadors celebrated numerous “ups”, and a few “downs” in the past year. Some “ups” included vacationing at Disney World, taking a Disney cruise, and spending Thanksgiving in New York City. Additionally, we surpassed the 2-yr cancer diagnosis anniversary mark in February. Up to this point, we have been blessed with continued good news, and check-ups.
Sadly, we lost a brain cancer battle buddy, Carl Horton, on December 31st, 2016. Not only was Carl a GE colleague, but he was a trusted friend; the first person I connected with after my diagnosis. He was a cheerleader throughout, and a brave warrior to the very end. To get to know Carl, please watch this video he made just a few days after having surgery, and only weeks before he passed. It is very touching, and insightful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8j_jqXdwtXs&feature=youtu.be
Once you are in the “Cancer Club,” regardless of the form, you know folks who have lost their fight, or who have loved ones who have lost their fight. Unfortunately, that was the case this year as well with friends losing their loved ones to cancer. They all fought bravely.
Please consider supporting this worthwhile event. Your dollar could be the one that will provide me, and thousands of others, the chance to grow old with our spouses and watch our children grow up to adulthood.
I have been a General Electric employee for almost 13 years, and GE has been a tremendous source of support during this difficult time in our lives. The GE Foundation will match any GE employee contribution greater than $25, dollar-for-dollar, so why not double your generous gift?! Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you need simple instructions on how to match your contribution. If you are not a GE employee, you can this site search the site by cliking the "Donate" tab at the top of the page, to see if YOUR company has a matching gift program.
If you are interested in joining our team, "TheGrayMatters," by all means, the more the merrier. Simply click the "JOIN team" tab to the right tab to get started!
If you cannot participate as a runner/walker, but want to do something to help, please consider donating to our team by clicking the "DONATE to team" tab to the right. There is no pressure to donate a specific amount; every dollar helps. Your donation is 100% tax deductible.
The Meadors are as happy and hopeful as we can be, but there is more work that needs to be done so that I, and others, can celebrate many, many more years with my family and friends.
A sincere thank you to ALL of those that have helped us get to this point, and for helping us find a cure for brain cancer/tumors!
