2017 Race for Hope - DC

Team JohnnyBean

Welcome to TEAM JOHNNYBEAN’s first Race for Hope-DC 2017!

My friends Michelle, Mickey and I are uniting with the National Brain Tumor Society and Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure in the fight against brain tumors.  We have joined forces to honor our loved ones whom we have lost to brain tumors. My late husband and Michelle’s dad’s names were “Johnny” and Mickey’s brother’s nickname was “Bean” which brought us together to form TEAM JOHNNYBEAN.

Please join our team to unite with others who are committed to making a difference!  Your support is a meaningful way to help those affected by brain tumors.

Whether you join our team, make a donation or send prayers we want you all to know that we appreciate your support!

The proceeds from the Race for Hope-DC benefit all those affected by brain tumors by equally supporting the collective programs of Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure and the National Brain Tumor Society. Each organization brings a unique approach to the fight against brain tumors. Together we can make a powerful team!

Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

 Some Brain Tumor Facts:

  • Each year over 210,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastic brain tumor – that’s over 575 people every day.

  • Among children under age 20, brain tumors are the most common form of solid tumor, and the second leading cause of cancer-related death, following leukemia.

  • No two brain tumors are alike. Prognosis, or expected outcome, is dependent on several factors including the type of tumor, location, response to treatment, an individual’s age, and overall health status.

  • There are more than 120 different types of brain tumors, making the development of effective treatments very complicated.

  • Research is critical to support the vast needs of the brain tumor community, but remains under-funded.
