Race for Hope Philadelphia

Team Dwayne

Dear Family and Friends,

Well it's time to get our team together to fight against Brain Cancer. This will be our 5th year in the name of Dwayne. It has been over 2 years since Dwayne has passed. I miss him more then i can express. I hope enough money can be raised to find a cure so no one will ever feel the loss that i feel due to Brain Cancer.

For those of you that do not know my story i will tell you. Dwayne was diagnosed with a brain tumor on Friday November 16, 2014. He was transferred to Einstein Hospitial in Philadelphia and had his first surgery on Wednesday and went home from the hospitial on Sunday of the same week. I thought wow i can't beleive he is doing well enough to be going home already. It took a month to find out that it was a stage 4 Glioblastoma. He went through therapy and went back to work at the end of March. He was doing great then in September he had a seizure and he seemed to have something happen every month after that. We went to see the the surgeon and he told us that Dwayne needed another surgery. He also told us that this surgery would help Dwayne make it through 2014. He had the surgery on January 20, 2014. He was a strong man he worked hard to get as strong as he could he spent 120 days in Powerback Rehabilitation on an off during the year. In August 2014 we were told that there was nothing they could do and he was put on hospice. One of the doctors told me that he looked worse then someone that had less then 2 weeks to live. But Dwayne's will to be here with his family and friends was stronger then that. He lasted 5 months. He died on January 5, 2015.

Since i have lost Dwayne i have met more people that have lost people to this horrible disease. I would love to have a big turn out this year not only for Dwayne but everyone that has lost someone to Brain Cancer.

I look forward to seeing everyone in October.

Thank you
