Susan Parks Hower. Born Susan Pearson Parks on January 6, 1962, Lafayette, IN. Graduated Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Bucknell University, 1983. Married to Mark Hower September 27, 1986. Gave birth to Kelley on February 5, 1988. Gave birth to Sandy on April 29, 1991. Diagnosed with Astrocytoma II on July 11, 1998 after an apparent seizure episode resulted in her driving at 60 mph into a tree near her office, shattering both of her legs. She was 36 and a Senior Engineer with Science & Engineering Associates, and a program manager for research and development of unmanned vehicles including those sent into the World Trade Center site after 9/11 to look for survivors and also used to search and defuse mines in battle zones. Deceased at Sunrise of Falls Church in Virginia on January 30, 2015 where she was a resident for 6 years. She was 53.
