About the National Brain Tumor Society:

National Brain Tumor Society is fiercely committed to finding better treatments, and ultimately a cure, for people living with a brain tumor today and anyone who will be diagnosed tomorrow. This means effecting change in the system at all levels.

We have a rigorous and thoughtful agenda, integrating research and public policy to bridge critical gaps. Starting with discovery science, to clinical trial design and the development of new therapies, there are many opportunities to make improvements and speed the momentum of new findings.

It’s time to build on progress and transform tomorrow, today.

At merely 52 years old, in May 2013 Guy Charles was diagnosed with Glioblastoma multiforme Brain Cancer. Not showing any obvious signs of major illness, brain cancer would be the last thing he or his family would expect him to be diagnosed with. Between the late 1990's and late 2000's, Guy complained to his doctor about constant headaches that he would have. After no serious attention was given to his complaints by his doctor, he decided to move to another primary care physician. In early 2013, Guy began to experience random smells that would cause his stomach to cramp and shortly after that, began to have seizures. Just weeks after his diagnosis and MRI he was hospitalized for 2 weeks due to swelling in the brain from tumors.

Guy is now doing radiation and chemotherapy. And even through this trying time in his life, his spirit is pleasant and his mind is at peace through faith.

We aren't sure when the cancer started forming or when it took a turn for the worse. We wonder had his headaches been taken more seriously, would we have been able to catch it at an earlier stage. Now at grade IV and a non favorable prognosis, we are hopeful. Hopeful that God shows favor and that through extensive research there may be a cure.

Please join the Charles Family in the fight against brain tumors by making a donation to our fundraising campaign to support the National Brain Tumor Society.
