When Chris was growing up in Ridgewood NJ there were several other Chris's in his circle of friends. To avoid confusion as an adolescent he was known as "Demos", which he enjoyed. He was addressed this way by many of his friends through his adult life as well. "Remembering Demos" is a team name that Chris would approve of!
On April 15, 2011 Chris was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma, a relatively rare type of brain tumor. No one knows what caused this to develop. Modern medicine continues to view this type of tumor as a mystery.
Despite 3 surgeries and aggressive treatments Chris passed away on December 25, 2012. For 21 months he fought. For 21 months he endured.
Alyssa and I are uniting with others to make a difference in the fight against brain tumors. The National Brain Tumor Society and Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure are making strides for a cure - but more needs to be done. Brain cancer research is generally underfunded. Please join us on race day to remember Chris and raise money for a worthy cause.

The Race for Hope - DC presented by Cassidy Turley raises funds to support innovative research initiatives and provide information for brain tumor patients and their families. This amazing event relies on the dedication and enthusiasm of individuals, families, teams, volunteers, sponsors and donors.
