Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

As part of the upcoming Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we would like to recognize all of the young patients and survivors affected by this disease, and those who are being remembered for their fight. At the National Brain Tumor Society our commitment to pediatric brain tumor research has never been stronger. Our current pediatric programs are focused on providing key insights to shape and accelerate future research to new, safer treatments so children can go on to live full and active lives. Help us raise awareness of this special month as we continue to work every day toward better treatments and ultimately a cure.

Now and through the month of September we invite you to show your support for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and follow our updates on Facebook.

National Brain Tumor Society Awards New Grants for Oligodendroglioma Research

Dr. David Louis, MD, of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and Dr. Anders Persson, PhD, of The University of California, San Francisco were recently selected as the first grant recipients of the Oligodendroglioma Research Fund. These two exciting grants also mark the successful launch of the first initiative of our Community Research Fund program, which is the only vehicle of charitable giving in the country that allows contributors to earmark donations for study of a particular brain tumor type - and was made possible by the generous support of key families and friends of the National Brain Tumor Society.  Read the full announcement.

Advocate of the Month: Karen Eagan

Karen and Ridge EaganKaren and Ridge Eagan

A native of California, Karen Eagan has been spreading awareness and educating others on key issues from coast to coast. She's also taken it upon herself to write to every Congressional office in her state (there are a lot!) about our key issues. Read more in our latest advocacy and public policy update.
